Development of SelvaKids

As those of you who know us are aware, as of September we will both be relocating to Ecuador with the aim of developing SelvaKids further. Our main aims over the next year are as follows:

Visiting new communities, as well as the communities we currently work with to understand more thoroughly their needs and documenting long term objectives.

Working with other small level non profit organisations to understand how they have implemented successful sustainable development schemes, such as micro-financing and volunteer programs, in order to better understand how we could develop similar schemes with the communities we work with.

Working with the communities to establish sustainable development schemes that allow them to preserve their culture, protect environment and fund education for the children of the community. The hope of implementing such schemes is so that essentially in the future the communities will be able to help themselves, rather than always rely on hand outs.

Increase awareness of our SelvaKids and increase fundraising with the aim of establishing ourselves as a registered organisation.

In the longer term, we would like to establish how else we could develop and expand our organisation, for example we’ve thought about setting up an education program for young mums who have never been able finish their education.
